The Artemision Bronze representing either Poseidon or Zeus, c. This masterpiece of classical sculpture was found by fishermen in their nets off the coast of Cape Artemisium in 1928. Bronze is an alloy consisting primarily of copper, commonly with about 12% tin and often with the addition of other metals (such as aluminium, manganese, nickel or zinc) and sometimes non-metals or metalloids such as arsenic, phosphorus or silicon.
These additions produce a range of alloys that may be harder than copper alone, or have other useful properties, such as stiffness, ductility, or machinability.
The choices were determined by the limited availability of multi-track master tapes from the era.
Only a few songs from each album are known to exist as multi-tracks, with the rest presumably lost.
Initially, bronze was made out of copper and arsenic, forming arsenic bronze, or from naturally or artificially mixed ores of copper and arsenic, Tin bronze was superior to arsenic bronze in that the alloying process could be more easily controlled, and the resulting alloy was stronger and easier to cast.
That said one could ask if Siwa's motives here might not just be a case of trying to peddle 'the hated music' behind a veil of blatant exoticism. If you'd like to order anything you see in today's newsletter, you'll find ordering options at Or if you're a regular customer and want to use the info from your last order, feel free to drop me an e-mail with your selections. The archeological period where bronze was the hardest metal in widespread use is known as the Bronze Age.In the ancient Near East this began with the rise of Sumer in the 4th millennium BC, with India and China starting to use bronze around the same time; everywhere it gradually spread across regions.
